Community Off-Road Transport Action Group
Back in 2004, a small group of likeminded 4x4 owners got together in a small backroom of a local pub. Their mission was to look into the feasibility of developing a 4x4 Response team which would operate in the Grampian area.
I was one of those individuals who shared a desire to use our 4x4 vehicles in order to help our local community in times of need. It was immediately agreed that to ensure success, it would be necessary to set a high degree of proficiency in all aspects of our activities. This desire to operate to a high standard has become our mantra and supports our core values of Integrity, professionalism and Community. A distinctive name was needed. All agreed that "Community Off-road Transport Action Group (COTAG)" fitted the bill. From that small group, our team has now blossomed into the well-respected organisation now recognised as: COTAG 4x4 Response. None of this could be possible if it were not for our volunteer responders and staff, who selflessly give their time and their vehicles, in support of our community. I never tire of being amazed at their dedication and selfless willingness to help our North East community. We now have a team of over 30 responders and operations controllers, all committed and highly trained volunteers. Supported by a mobile operations control unit and using the most up to date communication equipment, we respond to approximately 80 requests for assistance per year. If you are considering joining the team by becoming a Volunteer Responder, Operations Controller or Administrator, please turn to our 'contact us' page and share your details. If accepted, you will be joining an organisation run in a professional manner and your contribution to your community will be greatly appreciated. Finally, to all those who have supported us over the years, both financially and practically, I wish to extend my personal gratitude. Your generosity ensures our ability to serve our community is able to continue into the future. I am extremely proud and honoured to sit at the head of this organisation.
